Abstract:Indocalamus hirsutissimus is a vulnerable species, which is only sporadically distributed in Wangmo County,Guizhou Province. In order to understand the living condition of I.hirsutissimus,a sample plot survey was carried out.The results showed that from the perspective of bamboo age class structure,1yearold bamboo accounting for 34.78% was the most bamboo in the three plots while 4yearold bamboo only accounted for 8.70%,indicating that the age structure of the bamboo population was growing. The ground diameter class and rod height class were mainly concentrated in the third grade, which were 1 cm<D≤1.5 cm and 2.5 m<H≤3 m,respectively, which were in line with the diameter class structure and rod height class structure distribution of bamboos. Our investigation found that manmade destruction and competition were the main factors leading to the population reduction of I.hirsutissimus.Relevant measures should be taken to protect and develop the bamboo species and expand the population of this bamboo species.
